Completed Activities Sem I 2025 - 26

• • The Teaching and Learning Centre, and The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus, in collaboration with School of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Goa, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), successfully conducted a series of workshops on Teaching Transversal Skills Using Tangibles for Technical Students on January 10 and 11, 2025. The first session was held on January 10 at IIT Goa, followed by the second session on January 11 at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus. The workshops were facilitated by Dr. Joelyn de Lima, scientist and pedagogical advisor at EPFL.
  • The workshop AI/ML in Undergraduate Education was conducted on 1st Feb, 2025. The workshop had both faculties and Ph D students as participants. The resource persons for the workshop were, Dr. Aksanksha Rathore from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, Dr. Challenger Mishra from Queen’s College, Cambridge University and Mr. Vikas Gurwani, from the AI/ML tool developer for Patil Group and Developers.
  • National Conference on Ecological Humanities and Social Sciences Pedagogies in Higher Education was held on 17th and 18th February, 2025 organized by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Teaching Learning Centre. It brought together scholars, educators and researchers to explore innovative ways of integrating ecological perspectives into humanities and social sciences formal education in higher education sector.
  • An Orientation session for PhD students was held on 15th March, 2025. The objective of the program was to introduce the PhD students to the best practices in teaching to help them be more effective in delivering their teaching responsibilities. Teaching-Related Orientation Program for New Faculty Members, a daylong session for newly joined faculty members, was conducted on 7th August, 2025. The resource persons were Prof. Pravin Mane, Prof. Bharat Deshpande, Prof. Arnab K Kumar Paul and Prof. Toby Joseph.
  • A talk on AI for Academics: Enhancing Teaching, Research and Productivity by Prof. Vipin Kizheppatt from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was organized on 28th Aug, 2025.
  • Teaching Learning Center awarded the following research grants for the year 2025-26 totaling up to Rs. 9 Lakhs:
    • To design and prepare the practical lab modules for the ME course “VLSI Fabrication Technology”, Prof. Ramesha C K

    • Redefining electrical science pedagogy through puzzles, interactivity and competition, Prof. Naveen Gupta, Prof. Manish Gupta and Prof. Sovik Ghosh
    • Organizing talks on teaching and learning, Prof. Mohit Kumar and Prof. Ch V. V. S. N. V. Prasad
  • Viraj Kumar (Visiting Professor, Kotak-IISc AI-ML Centre at IISc Bangalore) delivered two talks titled: “Democratizing Programming with Gen AI” and “Rethinking Learning Outcomes and Assessments for Engineering Courses in the Gen AI Era” on 3rd October, 2025.
  • A Discussion meeting on Project Based Learning led by Prof. Karthik Chetan V (BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus) was held on 15th Nov, 2025
  • Intensive Teaching Workshop - Segment 2, which involves in-classroom feedback on teaching by peers, was initiated on 13th Nov. The session will be wound up in Jan, 2026.
  • Invited talk on Rethinking Learning Outcomes and Assessments for Engineering Courses in the Gen AI Era by Prof. Viraj Kumar (Visiting Professor, Kotak-IISc AI-ML Centre at IISc Bangalore) given on 3rd Oct, 2025.
  • Teacher's Day program Samarpan was held on 22nd Sep, 2025. The program involved felicitation of faculties who completed 10 and 20 years of service, awarding the  Best Teacher and Best Teaching Assistant Awards and cultural programs. Prof. Bharat Bushan was the chief guest for the program.
  • Intensive Teaching Workshop - Segment 1, which involved short presentations given to expert panels and peers by newly joined faculties, was initiated on 20th Sep. There were four sessions in total and the segment was completed successfully on 17th Oct, 2025.
  • Proposal presentations for TLC funding Projects related to Teaching and Learning was held on 6th and 9th of Sep. A total of 11 proposals were submitted of which 10 were selected for funding.
  • A practice-oriented session on AI for Academics: Enhancing Teaching, Research and Productivity by Prof. Vipin Kizheppatt from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was held on 28th Aug, 2025.
  • Intensive Teaching Workshop - Introductory Session was held on 25th Aug, 2025. Prof. Raghunath Ratabole explained the philosophy behind the exercise and detailed the plan of the program for the semester.
  • Teaching Related Orientation Program for New Faculties, a day long session for newly joined faculties, was conducted by resource persons: Prof. Pravin Mane, Prof. Bharat Deshpande, Prof. Arnab Kumar Paul and Prof. Toby Joseph on 7th Aug, 2025.
