BITS Pilani offers UG, PG and PhD programs to over 17,000 students across its campuses in Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Dubai. BITS Pilani was declared as an Institution of Eminence by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 2020.

QS World University Subject Rankings 2022 has ranked BITS Pilani globally at

  • 101-150 in Pharmacy and Pharmacology
  • 301-350 in 2 subjects namely, EEE and Chemical Engineering

BITS Pilani has been ranked among the top 300 in QS World University Graduate Employability Rankings 2022 and within the top 8 in India.

In the NIRF 2021 rankings, BITS Pilani has been ranked 3rd in Pharmacy, 17th in the University category and 26th in Engineering. In QS Asia University Rankings 2021, BITS Pilani has been ranked 194th, only private institute from India in the Asia Top 200, and at 18 in India. The Institute has secured over Rs 375 crore as external research grant in the last 5 years. State of the art facilities have been developed to support cutting edge research, led by students and about 925 faculty members, leading to a Scopus h-index of 135, about 19100 publications with over 1,80,320 citations as per Scopus Database and with 112 patents filed in the last 5 years, and 14 patents granted. Recently, BITS Pilani was chosen by DST, GoI to establish a Technology Innovation Hub on Bio-Cyber Physical Systems with a grant of Rs 125 Cr - the only non-Government institute amongst the 25 chosen nationally for this prestigious grant. Recent studies have identified BITS Pilani at #3 in terms of number of Indian start-ups founded by the graduates of an institute. Currently there are 12 BITSian Unicorns and 1 Decacorn. There are over 7500 BITSian founders and co-founders of enterprises.

Minimum Eligibility Qualifications

ME / MTech / MPharm / MBA / MPhil (minimum of 60% aggregate)*
MSc/BE/BPharm or an equivalent degree (minimum of 60% aggregate)*
For admission into Humanities and Social Sciences, MA degree (minimum of 55% aggregate)*

In addition, Departments may set specific admission criteria for shortlisting. Meeting the minimum eligibility qualifications does not guarantee admission into the PhD program. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an admission test, which may comprise a written exam and/or interview. Information on specific Departments and related research activities is available on the Department homepage of respective campuses.

Full-time students

Preferably individuals who would like to pursue PhD in-house, residing on campus.

Part-time students

Preferably individuals who are working in organizations providing basic facilities and an environment for research.

Financial Assistance

Full-time PhD students admitted into the PhD program are eligible to be considered for a fellowship of ₹28,000 or ₹31,000 per month as per intake qualification. Consideration for fellowship will be as per Institute norms, details of which are available in the PhD brochure on the admission website. It will be obligatory on the part of every admitted full time student to undertake 8 to 10 hours (per week) of work as assigned to her/him by the Institute.

FAQ

My board doesn't give aggregate marks for 12th exam. What marks should I enter?
For CBSE, include PCM and English/Hindi and one additional elective (total five subjects) in your aggregate. For ISCE, include PCM and English in the aggregate. Others should calculate the aggregate marks (or its equivalent) and attach a note explaining the method used by them to calculate the aggregate.
While entering the 12th exam marks, should I include the practical marks also? Can I include 11th and 12th year marks?
The subject-wise and aggregate marks are to be given for the 12th year examination only. Don't include the 11th year exam marks. For practical marks, use the method used by your board to calculate the subject-wise marks.
I have applied Online. But, I made a mistake in entering 12th Marks & preferences. I want to change them. How to do it?
You were advised to be careful before entering and confirming the data while applying online. If you want to change the preferences later, you will have to log into the admission portal using your credentials and edit your 12th Marks & preferences during 08th June 2022 till 12th June 2022. More information will be provided on the portal about editing process on 08th June 2022. No email queries will be entertained in this regard. Editing has to be done by the applicant only using the online credentials. No correction is allowed in gender, Email ID and contact number.
What is the cut-off marks required in BITSAT-2022 to qualify for admissions?
It is not possible to predict the cut-off scores till all applications are received. The cut-off scores form year 2017 is available at Cut off list. This is given only as information and the cut-off for First semester 2022-2023 will depend on the number of applications.
I have not registered for BITSAT-2022. Can I apply for admissions?
The last date for registering for BITSAT-2022 is 12th June, 2022. Except for first rank students of central/state boards in India, those who have not appeared in BITSAT-2022 cannot be considered now.
Are there any seats reserved for NRIs?
No.
I have obtained 74.6% in PCM aggregate. Will you consider it as 75%?
No. We need a minimum of 75.00% or more in PCM aggregate.
I have obtained 74.9% in PCB aggregate. Will you consider for B.Pharm.
No. We need a minimum of 75% or more in PCB/PCM aggregate for B.Phram Programme.
I want to apply for Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. Should I apply separately?
No. A single form is sufficient, where you can give your preferences to all the first degree programmes . Programme for all the three campuses.
I had already registered for BITSAT-2022. Why should I apply again for admissions?
It is necessary to apply for admissions separately with the marks obtained in 12th exam and also giving your preferences to different degree programmes, along with the requisite application fee.
I have passed 12th exam only. I have not done a BSc. How do you expect me to apply for M.Sc. now?
The M.Sc. is an Integrated Masters programmes offered by BITS. There is no intermediate B.Sc. degree. The input qualification and duration is the same as that for a B.E. program.
While filling the preference form, I have uploaded the wrong mark sheet. How Do I rectify it?
