2. Teacher’s day event – Felicitation of retired faculty members– September 4th 2021.The following faculty members who retired from BITS-Pilani K. K. Birla Goa campus were felicitated during the event.

3. Teaching Learning Center awarded the following research grants for the year 2020-21 totaling upto Rs. 5.15 Lakhs.

(a)  A git and docket based tool chain for introductory programming course – Awarded to Dr. Swaroop Joshi, Department of Computer Science and Information system

(b)  Exploring relationship between students an mentors; A study of learning activity through group work              – Awarded to Dr. Mohan Kumar Bera, Department of Humanities and Social sciences.

(c) Indian ocean region seasports and vessel traffic atlas project for classroom teaching – Awarded to Prof. R. P. Pradhan, Department of Humanities and Social sciences.

(d) Teaching and learning of communication courses on software defined radio platform – Awarded to Dr. Naveen-Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.

Completed Activities (2017-18)

  • The 1st part of Intensive Teaching Workshop (ITW-1) for new faculty members was held on 9-10 Feb 2018. Numbers of participants in the workshop were fifteen.  Amongst these one experienced faculty member was also present.  Workshop was conducted by members of the teaching learning center. It contained 8 modules – On preparing for a class, Theories of learning, Active & cooperative learning, Learning outcomes based teaching,  Designing assessments, Reflective teaching,  Role of technology, Ethical practices.
  • The 2nd part of Intensive teaching workshop (ITW-2) was spread over in the months of March-April 2018. 13 new faculty members participated in the workshop. Each faculty member attended 5 sessions.  The workshop was composed of 3 rounds – Round-1 : No specific brief was given to the participants. Round-2: Participants were asked to design an interactive class. Round-3: Participants had to use technology aids in the studio to record a 5-10 minute teaching modules which was then viewed by all participants and panel members.
  • Moodle workshop was conducted on 24-Feb-2018 by Prof. Radhika Vathsan  & Ms. Sandhya in which there were two participants
  • Prof. Pravin Singru & Prof. Radhika Vathsan from BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus gave a seminar on 16-Nov-2017. Title of the seminar was “Active Learning”. Around fifteen participants were present
  • Dr. Mitaxi Mehta from School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, Ahmedabad University gave a seminar on 27-Jan-2018. Title of the seminar was “Applying Olin pedagogy in the Indian context”. Around fifteen participants were present
  • Prof. Hemanta K. Majumder from CSIR- Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Jadavpur gave two seminars on 27-28 March 2018. The title of the seminar was “Maintenance of topology of DNA inside  Cells ( Leishmania)” and “Mysteries in the DNA topoisomerases of kinetoplastid parasites “. Around fifteen participants were present
  • Prof. Vinayak Eswaran, from Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department, IIT – Hyderabad gave a seminar on 9-April-2018. Title of the seminar was “Foundational ideas for  the B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. programs in mechanical engineering at IIT Hyderabad”.  Around fifteen participants were present
  • A practice of sharing pedagogy experiments, research & experiences of faculty members around the world was initiated. This was done by sharing resources – research papers, videos, etc. with faculty community at regular intervals.
  • Prof. Radhika Vathsan & Prof. Gaurav Dar from Teaching-Learning Center attended the “International conference on transformation of engineering education” at Benett University, NOIDA from 4-6 Jan 2018. The conference was organized by the Indo-Universal collaboration for engineering education (IUCEE)
  • Prof. Gaurav Dar chaired  a session at the conference titled “Improving synergy between teaching & research in Indian academic” from 26-27 March 2018 organized by Teaching-Learning center of Pilani campus
  • Research project on “Evaluating the Outcomes and Impact of Hybrid, Blended, Telepresence and Online Courses: A case study” was commissioned & funded by the TLC. The Principal investigator for the project was Prof. Reena Cheruvalath. A part-time Research Assosciate was also hired for the project.

  • TLC Teaching Seminar on April 3, 2017-A talk by Prof. Dipankar Pal, Dep of EEE and E & I, Title "Engineering Education in India: Past, Present and Future".  

 

Completed Activities (2015-16)

  1. Workshop on effective teaching and learning was held under the guidance of Mission 2015-QAA Team during July 18-20, 2015 at KK Birla Goa Campus wherein faculty members associated with newly constituted Teaching Learning Centre’s from Pilani, Dubai, Goa and Hyderabad campuses participated.
