5What is the stipend amount for full-time PhD students?

Institute fellowship: INR ₹37,000/- per month. The fellowship may be enhanced to ₹40,000/- or ₹42,000/- after two years based on the performance. Institute Fellows will also receive a contingency amount of ₹20,000/- per year.

6What is the stipend amount for part-time PhD students?

Part-time students are not offered any stipend

7What is the duration for stipend?

Stipend is given for a maximum duration of 5 years (10 semesters) from the date of admission.

9Can students working on projects be converted to PhD?

Yes, there is a provision for this. The student needs to go through all protocols for PhD admission.

10When can a PhD student appear for Qualifying examination?

On successful completion of prescribed course work a PhD student will be eligible to appear in qualifying examination and can apply for the same to DRC. For more details, students may refer to section 2.7 of the PhD guidelines.

11Is there are any minimum number of publications required for completion of PhD?

The candidates are advised to publish their work in International/National Refereed Journals, obtain patents and present their work in International/national Conferences of repute. It is expected that candidate publishes minimum of two research papers from his research work in peer reviewed journals before the pre-submission seminar.

12Are PhD students allowed to attend International Conference outside India?

There is a provision for International Travel Grant. However, this is a competitive grant. Please go through the Guidelines.

13Do PhD & HD students need to do TA duty?

Yes, all PhD and HD students are required to do TA duty, which will be assigned by the HoD.

14If my PhD area is multidisciplinary, is there any provision other than the respective Departments were I can register for PhD?

Yes, there is a provision to be registered under SIRE.

15Is there any provision for industry professionals to do a PhD?
