Industry–Academia Meet on Bridging the Valley in Healthcare Innovation and Social Impact was successfully organized by the Department of Pharmacy, BITS Pilani, on November 14–15, 2025, in collaboration with the BITS-Technology Enabling Centre and the Institution’s Innovation Council. The meet brought together distinguished experts from academia, industry, and research, offering a dynamic platform to discuss groundbreaking advancements in the pharmaceutical sector and practical strategies for translating innovations into real-world healthcare solutions.
The event began with an inspiring inaugural ceremony at the J.C. Chaudhary NAB Auditorium, graced by guest speaker Dr. Virendra Tripathi (Chairman, VCA Healthcare), Prof. Badri Nagori (Co-founder, Satori OCS & FPCR), Mr. Chander Singh Bohara (Deputy General Manager, Sun Pharma), Dr. Rohit Chakravarty (Research Manager, Sun Pharma), and Dr. Arti Thakkar (Associate Director, PumasAI Inc., USA). The ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of Col. Soumyabrata Chakraborty (Registrar) and Prof. N.V.M. Rao (Dean of Administration), BITS Pilani. Prof. Rajeev Taliyan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, highlighted the department’s rich legacy and its significant achievements over the past few years.
In their insightful addresses, Dr. Rohit and Mr. Bohara emphasized the importance of deep, research-driven innovation and discussed the challenges associated with translating academic findings into industry-ready solutions, especially in the pharmaceutical domain. Their perspectives shed light on the expectations and gaps between academia and industry.
The inaugural session was followed by engaging oral and poster presentations, where researchers showcased their latest findings. Alongside these sessions, several expert talks specifically focused on how academic research can be effectively translated into industrial applications, covering pathways for technology transfer, regulatory considerations, formulation development, and collaborative models that accelerate healthcare innovation.
At the conclusion of the scientific sessions, Best Poster Presentation and Best Oral Presentation awards were conferred to recognize outstanding contributions and encourage impactful research dissemination. These awards added a competitive and motivational spirit to the event, celebrating excellence in scientific communication.
