BITS Pilani has been honoured with the prestigious Jal Yodha Samman 2025–26, celebrating institutions that are making a measurable impact on India’s water security and advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Jal Bharat.
The award was received on 28 March 2026 by Prof. Srinivas Rallapalli (Department of Civil Engineering) and was conferred by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
This recognition reflects the collective leadership of Prof. Rallapalli and Prof. Muralidhar Rao N V (Dean Administration, Pilani campus), whose efforts have transformed BITS Pilani into a benchmark for institutional water self-reliance.
Through a comprehensive and technology-driven approach, the institute has developed a robust water management ecosystem, including:
💧 Rainwater harvesting
💧 Wastewater recycling and reuse
💧 Real-time monitoring systems
💧 Near-zero liquid discharge practices
These initiatives demonstrate how academic institutions can lead the way in sustainable resource management and contribute meaningfully to national priorities.
The award was organised by Sarkaritel and hosted by Art of Living Foundation, Bengaluru, with support from leading national and global institutions committed to strengthening India’s water resilience.
