Prof. Dhakal is an internationally renowned researcher with nearly 500 technical publications, an H-index of 46, and research grants exceeding $7 million. His impactful contributions to earthquake engineering have earned him numerous prestigious awards and global recognition.
He has served on multiple editorial boards, delivered keynote lectures worldwide, and currently leads as the Editor of the Bulletin of the NZ Society for Earthquake Engineering. Prof. Dhakal is a Fellow of Engineering New Zealand, a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), and the President of SPONSE (Seismic Performance of Non-Structural Elements).
His excellence in teaching and mentorship is evident through his supervision of 65+ research students and awards such as the UCSA Supervisor of the Year (2014) and the UC Teaching Award (2013).
