Applications are invited for the position of JRF in the Department of Chemistry at BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa for a Department of Biotechnology sponsored research project on therapeutics to treat cataract.

Co-Principal Investigator: Prof. Angshuman Sarkar, Ph.D., FRSB

Broad area of Research: Protein Biochemistry and Biophysical chemistry

Project Details:           i) This project will involve cloning, expression & purification of recombinant proteins and their biophysical characterization.

1. ii) To test efficacy of small molecules in inhibiting cataract onset using in vitro experiments, cell culture and animal model-based experiments.

Duration of the project: 2.5 years. (The appointment will be renewed every year based on satisfactory performance).

Fellowship Amount (Rs.):  Rs. 37,000.00 per month

Accommodation: Hostel accommodation will be provided subjected to availability and will be governed by the rules and regulations of the institute prevailing at the time of joining of the candidate.

Qualification: Candidates with M.Sc. (Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Life Sciences) or M.Tech. (Biotechnology) having NET/GATE/other equivalent exam may apply. Candidates having Hands on experience on basic molecular biology techniques, mutagenesis, cell culture will have added advantage.
