The Department of Civil Engineering, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, is delighted to welcome Dr. Saurabh Gupta to the BITS Pilani family.
Dr. Gupta holds a Ph.D. in Infrastructure Engineering & Management from IIT Kanpur and is an M.Tech. Gold Medalist in Construction Technology and Management from NITTTR, Bhopal. With over 8 years of experience across academia, research, and international development, he brings a rich blend of expertise and interdisciplinary perspective to the department.
Before joining BITS Pilani, Dr. Gupta was associated with the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), where he managed and mentored global research initiatives and developed knowledge products and platforms. He has also contributed through faculty and research roles at NICMAR University, Pune, and IIT Kanpur.
🔬 Research & Expertise
His research interests span the intersection of construction engineering, emerging digital technologies, and disaster resilience, with particular focus on:
- 🏗️ Construction project scheduling under uncertainty
- 🚁 UAV-based construction site safety monitoring
- 🛰️ Satellite and remote-sensing-based infrastructure damage assessment
- 🤖 Machine learning and deep learning for construction management
- 🌏 Data-driven infrastructure and disaster resilience
Dr. Gupta's research contributions have been recognized through prestigious fellowships and grants, including the CDRI Fellowship Grant, DST NIDHI EIR Fellowship, Humboldt Fellowship for German-language training, and funding under the Hindu Kush Himalaya Innovation Challenge for Entrepreneurs.
His achievements include the MAY Award for Engineering Excellence at IIT Kanpur, KPIT Shodh Award, Madhya Pradesh Young Scientist Award, University Gold Medal, and several best paper and poster awards at international conferences. His work has also contributed to 11 Indian patents and design registrations.
We are confident that Dr. Gupta's expertise in digital technologies, construction management, and resilient infrastructure will further strengthen the department's research, teaching, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
