BITS incubated GreenShift Energy Pvt Ltd receives two projects from BIRAC under their BioE3 policy

GreenShift Energy Pvt Ltd. has received its second project titled 'Enhancing lignin degradation for efficient biomass saccharification through synthetic biology' for funding worth Rs. 50 Lakhs from BIRAC under their BioE3 policy.  GreenShift Energy Pvt Ltd is incubated at BIRAC BioNEST in BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus.

Their first approved project under the Bio-E3 policy is: ‘Rumen-Inspired Consolidated Bioprocessing for Methane Production from Industrial Carbon Emissions’ for funding worth Rs. 48.6 Lakhs, which was approved recently under the same call.  Both these opportunities will strengthen the company’s portfolio in biotechnological processes for sustainable waste management. Together, these projects aim to build in-house capabilities for managing flue gas emissions and agricultural wastes, with applications across the chemical industry and biorefineries.

GreenShift Energy Pvt Ltd had earlier received Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) worth Rs. 50 lakhs in 2022 and Small Business Innovation and Research Initiative (SBIRI) grant worth Rs. 94 lakhs in 2025 from BIRAC.

In addition to these developments, GreenShift Energy Pvt Ltd was invited by the Government of India to attend the Republic Day ceremony in New Delhi in 2026. The company also participated in the Kick-off Event-cum-Strategic Workshop, as well as in meetings with Dr. V. K. Saraswat, Hon’ble Member, NITI Aayog, and Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Director General–BRIC, Secretary–DBT, and Chairman–BIRAC. These engagements were organized by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and BIRAC.  These events were attended by our co-founder, Mr. Kunal Godambe on behalf of the company.
