The BITS Pilani Dubai Campus (BPDC) recently celebrated its 22nd convocation, awarding degrees to
297 graduates: 251 from the Integrated First Degree Programme, 39 from the Higher Degree

The ceremony was graced by His Highness Shaikh Sultan Jamal Saqer Sultan Al Qasimi as Chief Guest,
with Mr. Essa Al Ghurair and Mr. Syed M. Salahuddin as Guests of Honour. BITS Pilani leadership,
including Vice Chancellor Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao and Director Prof. Souri Banerjee, joined faculty,
alumni, and families in celebrating the graduates.

His Highness Shaikh Sultan encouraged the graduates to pursue ambitious, inspiring careers.
Chancellor Dr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, speaking virtually, urged them to combine professional
excellence with a global outlook. Prof. Rao highlighted the university’s advances in rankings,
research, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Outstanding alumni were recognized: Sid Mookerji (Batch of 1988) received the BITS Ratna Award
for entrepreneurship and philanthropy, and Dr. Nikhil Bhalla (Batch of 2009) received the Young
Achiever Award for contributions in nano-engineering and biosensor technologies. Top students also
received Chancellor’s Medals and Director’s All-Round Achievement Awards.

Prof. Banerjee emphasized BPDC’s focus on academic rigor, innovation, global exposure, and ethical
leadership, noting its diverse student body from over 16 nationalities and programs across
engineering, sciences, management, and research.

BPDC continues strong placement trends, with 62% of this year’s students already placed, primarily
in the UAE, and successful graduates joining firms such as Schindler, AstraZeneca, Zomato, and
Landmark Group, or pursuing higher studies abroad.

Mr. Akshay Chutani, Deputy Registrar remarked, “Graduation is the start of an even larger journey,
with graduates poised to make meaningful global impact.” The 2025 convocation highlighted BPDC’s
role in nurturing skilled professionals for industry, research, and higher education.
