The committee comprising of medical, scientific, non-medical and nonscientific members, whose responsibility is to ensure the protection of the rights, safety and well-being of human subjects involved in biomedical research.

 

Dr. Prashant R Singh, (Birla Sarvajanik Hospital) is chairman of the committee and Prof. Rajeev Taliyan, BITS Pilani, is member secretary of IHEC, BITS Pilani.

 

IHEC BITS Pilani, shall be responsible for reviewing and approving the protocol, ensure the suitability of the investigators, facilities, methods and documenting informed consent of the study subjects and adequacy of confidentiality safeguards. The committee will approve only protocols with low risk categories. A low risk research project is one which the nature of harm is minimal or nil.
