𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦? 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭!

The Department of Chemistry, BITS Pilani Goa Campus, in association with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and RSC Local Section Deccan, organised “Careers in Chemistry” to help students and young researchers explore the many possibilities that a career in chemistry can offer.

The event brought together undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students from colleges and universities across Goa, along with research scholars from BITS Pilani Goa Campus. Representatives from the RSC offices in the UK and India added an international perspective to the conversations.

Prof. Meenal Kowshik, Dean-Administration, BITS Pilani Goa Campus, welcomed the participants and shared insights into the Institute’s academic and research environment. Event coordinators Prof. Ranjan Dey and Prof. Sudipta Chatterjee introduced the Department of Chemistry and its teaching and research activities.

From academia and research to chemical and pharmaceutical industries, analytical sciences, scientific publishing, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and RSC membership benefits, the discussions showcased the many directions a chemistry career can take.

More than a career-focused programme, the event was an opportunity to ask questions, meet professionals, discover new pathways, and rethink what a future in chemistry can look like.
