STEP UP YOUR POTENTIAL 3.0 – REPORT

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the BITS Pilani Dubai campus has successfully hosted the national competition “Step Up Your Potential 3.0” for students in grades 9–12 as an outreach activity on May 7, 2024. Eleven teams were selected from applications submitted by schools around the United Arab Emirates. 

The Director, Senior Professor Srinivasan Madapusi, honoured the occasion with his presence, delivering a keynote speech and imparting inspirational advice to the aspiring young budding future engineers.

The event's organizer, Prof. R. Swarnalatha, Deputy Head of the EEE Department, gave an inspiring welcome address and complimented the teams for exhibiting their passion through ideas and innovations. 

The Communications Manager, Ms. Anuradha Srinivasan, highlighted BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, its unique programmes, internships, and admission modalities.

The Department Head, Prof. V Kalaichelvi, provided information about the EEE programmes, lab infrastructure, association and club activities, student achievements, and alumni information. 

The organising team Prof Sunil Thomas and Prof Shazia Hasan were thrilled to conduct this event. The judges for the competition, Prof. Jagadish Nayak, Prof. Abdul Rajak, and Prof. Vilas Gaidhane, were astonished by the ideas and innovations that the school students delivered. They provided  constructive suggestions and valuable feedback.

WINNERS LIST

The first place was secured by Delhi Private School Sharjah: Daranidharan Neelagandan and Abdul Mujeeb. The team members received a winner's certificate, a trophy, and a cash prize of AED 2500 for a team.

Two schools tied for second place. 1. Delhi Private School Sharjah: Abdullah Kazi, Lakshya Sandeep, and Zara Zaman and 2. Gems Modern Academy: Aditya Kashyap and Shreyram Seetharaman. The team members received winner’s certificates and a cash prize of AED 1500 per team. 

Two schools again won third place. 1.Delhi Private School Sharjah: Shriya Nambiar and Ayaana Behlim and 2. Gems Our Own Indian School: Navya Verma,Theyjashri Koomidi Saravaan, Anwitha Magesh and Hana Rayan. The team members received winner’s certificates and a cash prize of AED 1000 per team.

A huge thanks to the student team consisting of Aaditi Rammohan [II year EEE], Calder Savio Zuzarte [II year EEE], Kerina Antony [II year EEE], Levita Kris [II year EEE], Nandana Reji [II year EEE] and Nashita Shakeel [II ECE] for going out of their way in making this event a huge success.
