With the growing depletion of fossil fuels and natural resources, renewable energy has emerged as a promising alternative. In this pursuit, Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) systems offer a viable solution by storing energy in the form of pressurized air. These systems not only facilitate efficient energy storage but also enhance the energy supply chain by decoupling energy generation and consumption through independent charging and discharging cycles.
A multidisciplinary team from the Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, has been awarded a project of Rs 22.89 Lakhs titled “Design Optimization of Composite Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) Pressure Vessel” by Siemens Energy to investigate on this interesting domain. This project aims to explore innovative approaches for developing cost-effective and high-performance composite pressure vessels for CAES applications.
