The 10th International Soft Matter Conference (ISMC 2026), one of the premier global meetings in the interdisciplinary field of soft condensed matter, was held from 25th-29th May 2026 at the BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. The conference was organized jointly by IIT-Madras and BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus with generous support of several sponsors from industry and academia. Over 750 participants, representing academia, industry and research labs from around 30 countries across the globe participated in this conference.

After a long history of being hosted in Europe, the United States, and East Asia, the 10th edition of this conference was held in India for the first time and BITS is proud to have made it into a tremendous success.

Other than 8 plenary talks from distinguished speakers in the field of soft condensed matter, there were 5 parallel sessions of keynote and contributed talks every day on a wide range of topics including colloids, liquid crystals, active and biological matter, interfaces, arrested matter, polymers and gels, self-assembly, rheology, sustainability and fluid dynamics. More than 600 posters were presented over a course of three days which enabled a huge number of Indian students to present their work on a truly international stage, and led to countless networking and collaborations.

The conference will move to San Diego, USA next year.
