The 3rd International Conference on Environmental Sustainability -New Paradigms and Developments (ICES 2023)

The 3 rd International Conference on Environmental Sustainability - New Paradigms and Developments (ICES 2023) was held at BITS Pilani- Dubai Campus in collaboration with the Society for Environmental Sustainability (SES), India and International Centre for BioSaline Agriculture (ICBA) from November 27-29, 2023. At the inaugural ceremony, Director, Prof. Srinivasan Madapusi emphasized the need for research to be directed towards solving problems. Dr. The convener, Prof. Neeru Sood, Head of Department for Biotechnology welcomed the guests, the delegates and the participants. She also highlighted the significance of organizing the conference on Environmental sustainability.

Prof Naveen Kumar Arora, Secretary, SES, introduced the theme of the conference and the areas of research covered by presenters at the conference. Prof. Rana Pratap Singh (President, SES) highlighted the need for research on Environmental Sustainability. Dr. Augusto Becerra, Chief Scientist, ICBA graced the occasion and gave short key note speech, expressed his hope that developments in the field will help sustain agricultural production in the region and around the world. Prof. M B Srinivas, Dean AGSRD shared valuable statistics related to climate change and its effects.

The conference had speakers form Canada, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Morocco and delegates from India, presenting 86 papers, which included invited talks, oral and posters covering various aspects of sustainability. There was a product launch of “HaloBiome”, a multi microbial consortium based product to mitigate saline stress in crops, by Sri BioAesthetics Pvt. Ltd, Hyderabad and BBA University, Lucknow. A field trip to ICBA Research Farm was organized on the last day of the conference by Dr Hicham, Dr R K Singh, Dr Zied and Dr Sumitha Thushare where the delegates were taken on a tour of the research facilities and seed bank and were briefed about ongoing research activities.
