The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences organised 17 th International talk under the flagship of International Academia and Research Committee (IARC) on 1 Nov 2023. The speaker, Dr George Jacob is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, President and CEO of Smithsonian Affiliated Bay Ecotarium in San Francisco. A Canadian Commonwealth Scholar, Getty Leadership Fellow, he was conferred with the Late Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for his lifetime contributions to generational institutions. Dr George Jacob shared his incredible journey into the world of museums and his cross cultural experiences. His talk elaborated on his current role at the helm of multiple Smithsonian affiliated institutions in San Francisco and the $260millio transformation of the Aquarium of the Bay into the world’s first climate and oceans living museum. After the talk, there was a question answer session. The event was organised by Dr Prateek, the IARC convenor. Prof Devika, Head of the HSS department welcomed the guest and shared the IARC vision. Prof Sangeeta Sharma introduced the concept of the talk and delivered vote of thanks. The event was attended by more than one hundred students.
