Job Description: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
The selected candidate will work on an ANRF-funded research project focused on the design, synthesis, and
application of chiral plasmonic nanostructures for ultrasensitive biomarker detection at the single-particle
level. The project combines nanomaterials synthesis, advanced optical spectroscopy, microscopy, and
biosensing.
Key Responsibilities
Synthesis and surface functionalization of metallic nanoparticles, nanoclusters, and chiral plasmonic
nanostructures.
Characterization of nanomaterials using UV–Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, FTIR,
Raman spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), electron microscopy,
and related techniques.
Development of biomolecular conjugation strategies for nanoparticle-based sensing platforms.
Optical measurements involving scattering spectroscopy and single-particle characterization.
Analysis and interpretation of experimental data, preparation of reports, and maintenance of
laboratory records.
Participation in research group meetings, scientific discussions, and collaborative activities.
Preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of research
findings at conferences.
Desired Skills
Strong background in Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Nanoscience, or
related areas.
Prior research experience in nanomaterials synthesis and characterization.
Familiarity with optical spectroscopy techniques and data analysis.
Basic knowledge of microscopy and image analysis tools.
Good scientific writing and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Learning Opportunities
The candidate will receive training in:
Advanced nanomaterials synthesis and functionalization.
Chiral plasmonics and single-particle spectroscopy.
Biomolecular sensing and diagnostic applications.
Scientific writing, project management, and research dissemination.
The position offers an excellent opportunity for motivated candidates seeking to pursue a Ph.D. and build a research career in nanoscience, spectroscopy, and biosensing.
