Title: Erdős-Szekeres Conjecture
Date & Time: Wednesday, 10 September 2025 , 5:00 – 6:00 PM
Venue: To be announced
Abstract:
Can we find, for a given n, a number N(n), such that from any set containing at least N(n) points in general position, it is possible to select n points forming a convex n-gon? If yes, how is the least N(n), denoted N_0(n), determined as a function of n? We shall see the interesting story that led to Erdős and Szekeres answering the first question in the affirmative and conjecturing that N_0(n) = 2^(n-2) + 1, in 1935.
All are cordially invited to attend the seminar.
