IoT based Smart Surveillance Camera with Face Detection

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering hosted an IoT-based smart surveillance camera with face detection workshop for students in Grades 9–12 on June 17, 2023. A huge number of students from various schools across the UAE participated in this free workshop. Prof. Srinivasan Madapusi, our director, gave the workshop's inaugural address. Dr. R. Swarnalatha, Deputy HoD, organized and convened the workshop, and Dr. V. Kalaichelvi, the Head of Department, gave a quick overview of the department.

The event was started and led by Dr. Nilesh Goel with an introduction to the components, which was followed by hands-on practice on IoT-based smart surveillance cameras with face detection with several applications. Participants were very grateful for the real-world applications and instructional strategies. Our Professors, Dr. Jagadish Nayak, Dr. T G Thomas, Dr. Vilas Gaidhane, Dr. M B Srinivas, and Dr. Gomathi Bhavani with support from our lab instructors Mr. Hidayathulla, Mr. Chelladurai, and Mr. Ashwani helped the participants in troubleshooting and better understanding of concepts. The student volunteers, Bhavadev, Shilpa, and Sanchit deserve special recognition. Having young people with an interest in STEM was exciting. Below are a few pictures from the workshop:
