International Programmes & Collaboration Division (IPCD) BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus, in collaboration with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, recently organized a three-day workshop from the 16th to the 18th of October, 2023 on ‘Net-Zero Emission targets of Sweden and India - Higher Education Institutions approach’. The workshop, organised at the K K Birla Goa Campus was supported by the funding from The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education, an organization established by the Swedish government in 1994.

This joint workshop saw the participation of academia, research scholars and industry background professionals to exchange ideas, experiences, and insights on topics related to energy and environment. Participants from KTH discussed on the topics related to energy and environment programs they offer and also benchmarking the course curriculum of both the universities in this fields.

In addition to faculty members, the workshop also welcomed guests from industry and stakeholders. Dr. Ramasubramanian Narayanan, Senior Vice President of Materials & Process Engineering at Aditya Birla Science & Technology Company Pvt Ltd., Mumbai, and Mr. Tejas Sidnal, Founder of Carbon Craft Design, Mumbai, were among the special guests invited for the workshop.

The event was marked by the presence of Prof. Ramgopal Rao, Vice-Chancellor, BITS Pilani (through online mode), Prof. Suman Kundu -Director, K K Birla Goa Campus, Prof. Srikanth Mutnuri-Dean (Institute-wide)-IPCD, Prof. Rajesh Mehrotra, Associate Dean-IPCD (K K Birla goa Campus), Prof Shibu Clement, Associate Dean-GCIR (K K Birla goa Campus) and faculty colleagues from BITS Pilani- Pilani Campus, Dubai Campus and K K Birla Goa campus.
The KTH team, comprised of faculty members from the Chemical Engineering department including Dr. Shareq Mohd Nazir, Dr. Frederico Marques Penha and Prof. Matthäus Bäbler who had productive discussions and knowledge sharing. Ms. Pia Schmitt, Senior Advisor for International Projects and Ms. Amritha Pushkaran Sandra, a PhD student from the Chemical Engineering Department, also represented the KTH delegation.

The event was successfully coordinated and hosted by International Programmes & Collaboration Division, K K Birla Goa Campus.
