Pedagogy

Management education in BITS Pilani is imparted through a thoughtfully balanced mix of teaching pedagogy. Faculty members strive to make the classes interactive so that students can correlate the theories with practical examples for better understanding. 
 
Case Supplement
 
Lectures supplemented by case studies are carried out in all the courses which enhance students' analytical, problem solving and decision making skills. This facilitates experiential learning among the students as they face real business issues, apply their classroom knowledge and strengthen their business acumen.
 
 
Team Activities
 
Students usually get a chance to work in teams wherein they learn to work and adapt with diverse workforce while working on specified assignments. Moreover, various managerial and negotiation skills get fostered in the students. Also during the semester, students undertake project(s) in each course. Herein, the students are expected to research and analyse latest industry developments, incorporate theoretical concepts, understand and propose innovative solutions to the business challenges.
 
Experiential learning
 
Through various projects taken as a part of different courses and internships, students go through experiential learning process. All students have the opportunity to enrol for 6 months of structured Practice school, as a part of the curriculum. These activities strengthen their learning outcomes at BITS Pilani.
 
Continuous Evaluation
 
Students are regularly evaluated on different parameters to check their progress throughout a semester. Class participation, short quizzes, announced tests, assignments, projects, etc. form part of this evaluation process.
 
Guest Lecture
 
Students in BITS Pilani interacts with eminent guests from the industry on a regular basis. At the university level, these guests having huge experience and unparalleled expertise come from varied industries and different countries. The Department of Management arranges for regular visit by high ranking industry personnel to the campus. This ensures that the students have get to know about the latest happenings in the industry, thereby making them ready for their future endeavours. Some of the recently conducted guest lectures were delivered by Mr. Suresh Kabra (Founder, Pricemap), Mr. Varindra Sewak (Director, BLS International Services Ltd), Dr. Kiranmai Pendyala (CVP- HR, AMD Inc) et al. Workshop
 
Workshops on different domains are conducted on a regular basis to equip the students with necessary skills as per the demand of the industry. In 2018 workshops were conducted to improve students’ skills related to project management, effective communication, financial modelling, portfolio management, six sigma, business analytics and Microsoft Excel.
