Lab Achievements/ Student Awards :

• Mr. Ashish Bhalkikar (PhD Student) received the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) Travel Grant (US $1500) to attend the 22nd IEEE International Conference on Advanced Robotics and its Social Impacts (ARSO) in Vienna, Austria. ( May 2026)
• Mr. Yash Vadapure and Mr. Rohit Jagdale (Both ME-Design students) won the Molbio Student Innovation Award (₹ 1 Lakh). Their proposed research focuses on the Computational Simulation and Mock-Limb Validation of a Brace-Induced Unloading in Knee Osteoarthritis. (May 2026)
• Mr. Gurudatta Shahapurkar (PhD Student) won prestigious International Society of Biomechanics Travel Grant (US $3500). As part of this award, Gurudatta will visit the IPD CAD Lab at the University of Maribor, Slovenia to work on "Design and experimental investigation of mock limb surrogates for strength testing of prosthetic sockets". (March 2026)
• Team BIOMADE won first Prize (₹ 3 Lakhs grant) in the National MedTech Hackathon organized by the National Association of Palliative Care for AYUSH & Integrative Medicine in collaboration with the Government of Goa. The team comprised of Mr. K. J. Sudheer Kumar (PhD student), Mr. Sachin Bhagat (Prosthetist, Goa Medical College), Dr. Melissa Luis (Physiotherapist, SMRC Hospital), Dr. Mahendra Kudchadkar (Orthopedic Surgeon, Healthway Hospitals) and Prof. Ganesh Bapat.  (February 2026)

Faculty Awards :

• First prize winner of Developing Countries Grant Competition-2021, organized during the 28^th Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics. The award consists of a $1000 prize to support the ongoing research on Neck-Exoskeleton development.
• Awarded Keshav-Rangnath Excellence in Research award for the best research work during PhD at IIT Madras (2017).

Fellowships:

• Awarded Special Institute Predoctoral Fellowship in IIT Madras for submitting PhD thesis with excellent research credentials before the stipulated time duration of the MS-PhD program.
• Awarded MHRD government of India Research Assistant Fellowship (JRF-SRF).

1. Young Scientist International travel grant by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), India, to attend the 29th Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics held in Fukuoka, Japan. (Aug 2023)
