    Research Associate position available in a CSIR funded project in the Department of Chemistry

    Applications are invited for a Research Associate position for the remaining tenure (one year) of CSIR funded project entitled “Synthesis of Metal-Organic-Porous-Material Based Efficient Chiral Heterogeneous Catalysts by Post-Synthetic Modification and Their Applications in Asymmetric Reactions” (Project no. 02(0075)/12/EMR-II). The scheduled date of completion of the project is 6/1/16. Candidates with knowledge in material chemistry and hand-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry will be given precedence. The advertisement is recirculated to fill up the recently open post of JRF/SRF/RA in the said project.

    Eligibility: Persons possessing PhD or equivalent degree in chemistry or having 3 years of research, teaching and design and development experience after MPharm in pharmaceutical chemistry or ME/MTech in material chemistry with at least one research paper in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal will be eligible to apply for RA.
     
    Age Limit: The upper age limit for applying for award of RA shall be 35 years. The upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years in the case of applicants belonging to scheduled castes/scheduled tribes/OBC, physically handicapped and women applicants.
     
    Monthly Stipend: Rs. 22000/- pm. Accommodation / HRA is admissible as per the norms of CSIR.

    Nominations call for Distinguished Alumnus Awards – 2015 

    Alumni Affairs Division of BITS Pilani solicits nominations for the “Distinguished Alumnus Awards – 2015” to recognize and honor those alumni who have brought laurels to their alma mater by making significant and outstanding contributions to their profession, their businesses, and/or to the society.

    Any living BITS alumnus who has completed a degree programme from any of the campuses of BITS and has made significant and outstanding contribution to one or more of the following fields (or categories) would be considered for the award:

    ·         >> Professional management of businesses

    ·         >> Entrepreneurship

    ·         >> Academic teaching and/or research

    ·         >> Public life or social entrepreneurship and

            >> Philanthropy

    Any member of the General Body of BITS, the Board of Governors of BITS, BITS’ Senate, BITS’ administration or faculty, or of BITS Alumni Association may nominate an alumnus.

    CALL FOR JRF / SRF for a Grand Challenges India (GCI) -'Re-invent the Toilet Challenge lndia' project entitled “Empowered septic tank as decentralized wastewater treatment system" funded by DBT BIRAC and Bill & Mellinda Gates foundation  

    Applications are invited from suitable candidates for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Senior Research Fellow (SRF) (02 positions) to work on the following project sponsored by DBT BIRAC and Bill & Mellinda Gates foundation  under the supervision of Dr. Srikanth Mutnuri, Department of Biological Sciences, BITS-Pilani, K K Birla Goa campus, Goa.

    Title of the project: “Empowered septic tank as decentralized wastewater treatment system"

    Fellowship amount: Rs. 18000/- plus HRA

    Eligibility requirements: M.Tech./M.E. in Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engineering/ Bioprocess Technology/ Chemical Engineering / Life Sciences with first division.

    Applications are invited for one (1) post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DST sponsored project entitled "Addressing Challenges in Application Development for Heterogeneous Computing Platform for Speedup and Efficiency"

    Nature of work:
    a) Conducting experiments on parallel computing platforms to understand and model application characteristics
    b) Building tools for analyzing and refactoring programs for parallel platforms
    c) Building assistance mechanism for programmers to build optimal parallel programs. Will include building plugins
    d) Manage and maintain the HPC cluster- includes OS configuration and tuning
    f) Publication to a reputed journal or a conference is a strong component of the work and a mandatory expectation.
     
    Expected Output:
    a) Prototypes
    b) Experimental results, and the model
    c) Publications
     
    Essential Qualification(s): M.E. or M.Tech. in Computer Science/Engineering with two years of relevant experience. Minimum 60% marks or equivalent in post-graduate examination. The candidate should have the following background:
    1. Strong multi-threaded programming in C/C++
    2. Good background in compiler
    3. Strong background in algorithms and knowledge in Parallel Algorithms
    4. Course/Project in Computer Architecture
    5. Strong knowledge in Linux at a system level
     
    Desirable qualification:
    1. Research credentials: As submission/acceptance of research papers, accepted papers will be considered favorably.
    2. Practical knowledge in building applications using CUDA/MPI/OpenCL
    3. Knowledge of design assistant tools like Eclipse and writing Eclipse extensions (plugins)
     
    Desirable: publication in relevant field, NET/GATE qualification.

    Nature of work: Protein purification & characterization, Cell culture and Computational Biology.

    Essential Qualification(s): M.E. or M.Tech. in Biotechnology or M.Sc. in Physiology/Zoology/Life Science /Bio-physics with two years of relevant experience. Minimum 60% marks or equivalent in post-graduate examination.
