Degree Programmes

Introduction

The under graduate Mechanical Engineering program started way back in 1946 and the Masters (Higher Degree) program in Mechanical Engineering was introduced in 1965 and there after came MSc Tech. Engineering Studies in 1981, another first degree program. Two specializations in Higher Degree level, namely ME Design Engineering and ME Manufacturing Systems Engineering were introduced in 1998. The most recent addition to the department is BE Manufacturing Engineering, started in 2009.

On-campus Programs

Currently the department admits students on-campus for the following programs:

B.E. (Hons.) Mechanical Engineering
B.E. (Hons.) Manufacturing Engineering
M.E. Mechanical Engineering
M.E. Design Engineering
M.E. Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Ph.D.

Normal duration of the BE (Hons) programs are 4 years and ME programs are 2 years. The "Honors" tag is there in the nomenclature of the BE programs because of several unique features of the degree program namely, the students spend one and half summer terms more under evaluated curriculum within their 4 years BE degree; Integrated nature of the program with other first degree programs offered at BITS Pilani; Opportunity to work in live industrial problem integrated with the programs.

The Group also offers several Off campus programs under Continued Education program of WLPD for example BS Programs in Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering & Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Power Engineering and MS Programs in Mechanical System Design, Quality Management, Manufacturing Management etc.

FIRA – 2010 (Bangalore, India): AcYut was made completely autonomous for this event and demonstrated Weight Lifting and set world record by Lifting 40 CDs
