About the Faculty

Dr. Narendra Nath Ghosh has received his M.Sc. (1994) and Ph.D. degree (1999) in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, India. He has pursued his post doctoral study in the Center for Composite Materials at University of Delaware (USA), Chemistry Department of University of Tennessee at Knoxville (USA) and Chemical and Materials Engineering Department of University of Kentucky at Lexington (USA). He has joined BITS, Pilani KK Birla Goa campus on 13th December 2004.

Prof Ghosh has been placed among the top 2% scientists of the world for both category (“Most Influential Scientist Career Impact (1960- 2020)” and “Most Influential Scientist Single Year Impact (2020)”) according to the survey (Using Scopus publication data) by researchers from Stanford University, USA in Nuclear & Particle Physics which has been published in a reputed international journal, PLOS Biology.(Citation: Ioannidis JPA, Boyack KW, Baas J (2020) Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators. Dr Ghosh has recently nominated in the committee for reviewing the R&D Proposals under CSIR-Fundamental & Innovative Research in Science of Tomorrow [CSIR-FIRST] Scheme. As one of subject experts he has also served the following committees  (i)  Chemistry for selection of candidates for Commonwealth Scholarship and (ii) subject expert (Materials Science) of SRF/ RA selection committee of CSIR.
 Dr. Ghosh is the recipient of TUBITAK visiting scientist fellowship award for the year 2006 and 2009, sponsored by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. In 2010 he has received “Research Exchanges with China and India award” by The Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) with Professor Gerard F Fernando of University of Birmingham, UK. In 2015, jointly with Professor Gerard F Fernando of University of Birmingham, UK Dr. Ghosh has received Newton Research Collaboration award, sponsored by Govt of UK. In 2018 he has received Visiting Scholar award to teach a course on Nanotechnology at the Department Chemistry of University of Tartu, Estonia in a two year international Master degree program Éxcellence in Analytical Chemistry (EACH) under Eramus+ program.
As of September 2021, under Dr. Ghosh's guidance eight students have received PhD degree (2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020), and currently four students have registered for PhD. 

Dr. Ghosh has published more than 100 research articles in peer reviewed international journals, invited book chapters, and International conference proceedings such as Progress in Polymer Science (5-Year Impact Factor: 31.7), Journal of the American Ceramic Society (One of the top journals in the materials science-ceramics category), Powder Technology, Journal of Porous Materials, Catalysis Communication, Journal of Polymer Nanostructured Materials, Chemical Communications, and so forth. He is coauthor of a paper which has been published as “Highlight paper” in Journal of Polymer Science: Part A: Polymer Chemistry and his another paper, which has published in Polymer International, has been cited as “First in the Top three papers” of the journal. His two papers, published in Powder Technology, have been ranked as one of the “Top 25 hottest articles”. Two of his papers have been listed as “Top cited papers” in the journal “Powder Technology” and “Catalysis Communication”. His research work has been reported as a Special Report "Research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology" in Chemical Weekly, which is a leading magazine for Chemical and related industries.

Dr. Ghosh was Editorial Board Member of (i) Journal of Chemical Engineering and Material Science Published by Academic Journals (Editor: 2015), (ii) Science Letters Journal (Journal's Section: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Journal's Sub-section: Nanocomposites) Published by Cognizure, (iii) International Scholarly Research Notices (Materials Science) Published by Hindawi Publishing Corporation, (iv) Advances in Nanomaterials (Science Publishing Group Inc. USA) and reviewer of more than 35 international journals. 

Dr. Ghosh’s research activity is sponsored by several national as well as international funding agencies such as Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, Defence Research and Development Organization, Board of Research in Nuclear Science, CSIR, DAE-UGC consortium, The Royal Academy Of Engineering (UK) and British Council (DST- UKIERI).
