Dr. Anil Kumar organized a two-day workshop titled “2nd Workshop on Analysis, Differential Equations & Computation” on March 14-15, 2026.
Dr. Jajati K. Sahoo organized the “International Conference on Advanced Scientific Computing & Machine Learning” on February 10-12, 2026.
Dr. Amit Setia organized a two-day workshop titled “Infectious Disease Dynamics: Modeling and Computation Techniques” on 26-27 December 2025, at the Department of Mathematics, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, under SPARC project. Dr. Abhishek Pandey, Associate Director, Center for Infectious Disease Modeling and Analysis, Yale Institute for Global Health, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, visited our department for 10 days under the SPARC project.
Dr. Saranya G. Nair organized the Lecture Series in Number Theory, from October 1–3, 2025. The aim of this series was to spark interest and encourage students in Goa by providing exposure to diverse areas of Number Theory, while also offering a platform for MSc students and research enthusiasts to interact with experts.
Prof. Danumjaya Palla organized a three-day workshop on “Scientific Computing” held from Aug 5 to 7, 2025.
Dr. Yasmeen Akhtar organized the Third Meru Combinatorics Conference, held from May 28 to 30, 2025, at the Department of Mathematics, BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. The conference brought together around 65 participants from institutions across India, fostering academic dialogue and collaboration in the field of combinatorics.
Dr. Saranya G. Nair organized a two-day symposium on "Insights into Research Pathways in Mathematics" held from Feb 21-22, 2025, at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus. There were a total of 52 participants who attended the symposium. The event featured expert presentations across various subfields of mathematics, providing a unique platform for thought-provoking discussions and potential collaborations. For M.Sc. students and Ph.D. aspirants, it offered an excellent opportunity to explore diverse research areas in mathematics and connect with faculty and scholars from the Department of Mathematics.
Dr. Saranya G. Nair successfully organized Indian Women and Mathematics (IWM), Annual Conference held from July 11-13, 2024, at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. The IWM was funded by National Board for Higher Mathematics, DAE, Govt. of India & Supported by Committee for Women in Mathematics, IMU. There were a total of 127 participants who attended the conference.
Dr. Amit Setia organized a two-day workshop on “Mathematical Modeling and Computations for Infectious Disease” held from April 12 to 13, 2024 under Sparc scheme for academic and research collaboration funded by Govt. of India; Ministry of education with IIT Kharagpur.
Dr. Amit Setia organized a lecture series under SPARC titled “Introduction to Epidemiological Modeling”. The series was held from March 18, 2024, to April 17, 2024, and was funded by IIT Kharagpur, SPARC, and NBHM.
Dr. Himadri Mukherjee organized a three-day International Workshop on “Linear Algebra and Related Areas” held from November 1 to 3, 2023. The funds for the event were received from NBHM, CSIR, and SERB.
Dr. Jajati K. Sahoo organized a workshop on "Preparation of Fundamental Glossary of Mathematics (English-Hindi-Konkani)", during June 27-July 01, 2023.
Dr. Monojit Bhattacharjee organized the AIS-Function Spaces, Operator Theory, and Operator Algebra, during June 12 to July 01, 2023. It was fully sponsored by National Centre of Mathematics (NCM).
Prof. Tarkeshwar Singh organized a two-day workshop on "Line Graph and Labeling on Graphs" during January 18-19, 2023.

Co-organized a one-day University level Curriculum Review Meeting with the Department of Mathematics, BITS Pilani, Pilani campus on 28th July 2015. Prof. A. K. Pani, Senior Professor, Department of Mathematics, IIT Bombay was one of the experts present over here, and the second expert Prof. G. Rangarajan, Professor, Department of Mathematics, IISc, Bangalore was present in Pilani. The meeting was held via telepresence and mathematics faculty from all four campuses participated in it.
Co-organized a workshop on "Advanced Programming Techniques in MATLAB" on Jul 24, 2015, in collaboration with EEE, Mechanical and Physics. Dr. Loren Shure, MathWorks Technical Ambassador delivered 3 lectures during the event.

Other Events
On February 27, 2026, on the occasion of National Science Day, PhD scholars from the Department of Mathematics presented flash talks highlighting their research work and recent developments in the field.
On February 21, 2026, as part of a public outreach program, the Department of Mathematics hosted 78 students and 4 teachers from Dnyanprassarak Mandal's College and Research Centre (DMC), Mapusa, Goa. The visiting group comprised 57 students from XI standard and 21 B.Sc. students. The department organized an interactive session to engage the participants and provided insights into various opportunities available in the field of Mathematics at the institute and beyond.
On January 27, 2026, as part of an academic visit, 32 students of Class XI from Vidya Vikas Academy, accompanied by two teachers, Tr. Meenal Patil and Tr. Nikita Afonso, visited the Department of Mathematics at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. The visit included an interactive session aimed at familiarizing students with the academic environment and opportunities in the field of Mathematics.
The Open Day Committee, led by Prof. Amit Setia from the Department of Mathematics, organized an Open Day event on November 8, 2025. The event featured mathematical posters, games, puzzles & quizzes. It was successfully conducted with the active involvement of research scholars, faculty members, staff and FD students. Faculty and students from various colleges and schools enthusiastically participated, engaging in the activities and thoroughly enjoying the event.
On February 8, 2025, as part of a public outreach program, the department hosted 41 members (undergraduate students/staff) from the B. N. Bandoddkar College of Science, (Autonomous), Thane. The department organized an interactive session where Prof. T Singh and Prof. Saranya G. Nair delivered lectures on interesting topics. Students were also made aware of various opportunities available at BITS and beyond in the field of Mathematics.
The Open Day Committee, led by Prof. Amit Setia and Prof. Anushaya Mohapatra from the Department of Mathematics, organized an Open Day event on November 23, 2024. The event featured mathematical posters, games, puzzles, and an alumni talk. It was successfully conducted with the active involvement of research scholars, faculty members, staff and FD students. Faculty and students from various colleges and schools enthusiastically participated, engaging in the activities and thoroughly enjoying the event.
Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director of IISc Bangalore, visited the Department of Mathematics on November 15th, 2024. During this visit, he interacted with the Ph.D. research scholars and faculty members.
The Teacher's Day celebration took place on September 5th, 2024, and was successfully organized by the Research Scholars of the Department. As a gesture of appreciation, the Research Scholars also presented gifts to all the faculty members to honor their contributions.
On August 31, 2024, as part of a public outreach program, the department hosted 33 members (29 students and 4 faculty) from the Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola - Marcela, Goa. The department organized an interactive session where Prof. Prabal Paul, Prof. Anushaya M., and Prof. Amit S. delivered lectures on interesting topics. Students were also made aware of various opportunities available at BITS and beyond in the field of Mathematics.
The Mathematics Department organized Open Day event on November 6, 2023. The event featured about 20 posters, 4 competitions, games, and a couple of videos. It was successfully organized and conducted with active participation from research scholars, faculty members, and FD students. Many students from colleges and high schools enthusiastically joined in, engaging in games and thoroughly enjoying the event.
The Teacher's Day celebration took place on September 05, 2023, and the event was successfully organized by the Research Scholars of the Department.
March 21, 2023, the Department of Mathematics organized Open Day event in the department, during which Research Scholars presented research posters related to their respective areas. The event was successfully conducted, with enthusiastic participation from research scholars, faculty members, and FD students. Many faculties and students from colleges and high schools enthusiastically joined in and appreciated the research posters presented.
March 15, 2023, as a part of public outreach program, the department hosted around 115 members (Students and faculty) from Mathematics Department, IIT Roorkee. The department organized an interaction session and Prof. Tarkeshwar Singh delivered a presentation on BITS and its academic program to the visitors. Faculties and Research scholars actively interacted with the visitors.
March 06, 2023, as part of the Department's ongoing activities, a dinner gathering with students (FD+PhD) was arranged at the VGH Lawn. This event provided students with an opportunity to interact with faculty members, fostering a conducive environment for engagement and collaboration.
January 27, 2023, as part of the public outreach program, the department welcomed approximately 28 students and two faculty members from the Mathematics Department of Sacred Heart College, Kochi, Kerala. Their visit included an interaction session, during which Prof. Tarkeshwar Singh delivered a presentation on BITS and its academic programs. This initiative reflects the department's commitment to fostering academic collaboration and offering enriching learning experiences.
November 23, 2022, as a part of a public outreach program, the department hosted around 37 third year B.Sc. Mathematics students and faculty members from Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram Kerala. The department organized an interaction session and Prof. Tarkeshwar Singh delivered a presentation on BITS and its academic program to the visitors. Our faculty colleagues and research scholars also interacted with the visitors.
January 24, 2019, Mathletes, The Mathematics Association organized an interaction session of first year students with faculty members of the department.
November, 01, 2018, Prof. Neena Goveas, Professor in Computer Science and Associate Dean, Academic-Undergraduate Studies, BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus, conferred the department level, Ahlfors Seminar Award -2018 to Dr. Amit Setia and Dr. G Shilpa, and she spoke on the occasion.
The Mathletes association organized Department Week during January 29 - February 3, 2018. The most enthralling event 'Addition' consisted of mathematical aptitude test/competition for the students of Institute and top three winners were awarded with a cash prize up to Rs 4000/.
January 23, 2018, Orientation meeting followed by High Tea was held for research scholars of mathematics department. Head, DRC convener and members presented about the roles and duties of research scholars in the growth of the department.
January 18, 2018, Mathletes, The Mathematics Association, organized a get-together event of all faculty and students in mathematics followed by dinner. Some talent show events were part of this function.
November 28, 2017, Around 28 second year M.Sc. Mathematics students with two faculty from St. Aloysius College Mangalore visited the department and Dr. Amit Setia gave a presentation on BITS and its PhD program to the visitors. Our faculty colleagues also interacted with the visitors.
September 19, 2017, The orientation for first year M.Sc. Mathematics students were held by seniors of all years to explain about scholarships, projects, the application of mathematical concepts learned in other branches, and more about their experiences with mathematics. This event was organized by MATHLETES.
September 9, 2017, Mathletes, The Mathematics Association, conducted a two hour long special study session in Mathematics-I. Senior students helped the first year students in understanding concepts and solving problems.
August 17, 2017, Prof. A. P. Koley, Professor in Chemistry and Associate Dean, Instruction Division, BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus, conferred the department level, Ahlfors Seminar Award -2017 to Dr. G. C. Samanta and spoke on the occasion.
August 14-15, 2017, Dr. P. Dhanumjaya, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics BITS-Goa conducted a training on FreeFem++ for our students, research scholars and faculty members in DST-FIST lab. The topics covered were: An Introduction to FreeFem++, Steady State Heat Conduction Problem, Transient Heat Conduction Problem, Transient Biharmonic Problem, Stokes driven cavity problem. As many as 20 in-house participants benefited out of it.

January 26, 2017, Organized a workshop on Introduction to Graph Theory for students and teachers of Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Madgao. As many as 48 students and three teachers participated in it.
August 26, 2016, Prof. R.N. Saha inaugurated DIST-FIST Scientific Computing Lab of the Department of Mathematics.
August 24, 2016, Prof. Ashwin Srinivasan Deputy Director, BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa campus,conferred the department level, Ahlfors seminar award -2016 to Dr. Mayank Goel and addressed the gathering.
April 10, 2016, Third Department Day/MATHFEST was celebrated. Prof. S. Arumugam, Member, Program Advisory Committee - Mathematical Sciences, Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) was the chief guest. He delivered a special lecture on Srinivasa Ramanujan.
August 20, 2015, Prof. G. Raghurama, Former Director, BITS-Pilani Pilani campus,conferred the department level, Ahlfors seminar award -2014 to Dr. Dhanumjaya P and Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey and delivered a short inspiring speech.
The second department day was organized on April 12, 2015 during 9.30 a.m to 10.00 p.m. Students conducted several competitions for the higher secondary school children and around 120 students of 9th-12th level across the various schools/colleges in Goa participated. Prof. Sasikumar P distributed the prizes and gave an inspirational address to the participants on mathematics and mathematicians. MATHLETS association members organized the event under the guidance of Prof. T. Singh.

On the eve of BITS Pilani golden jubilee celebrations 2013-14, Mathematics Department organized Department Day on March 23, 2014. Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Professor, Department of Mathematics, IISc, Bangalore honored the event as the Chief Guest.
