The department is focused in both teaching and high-quality research (basic and multidisciplinary) in the frontier areas of chemistry and its interface with allied disciplines. Our mission and vision is to excel in teaching, innovative research and academia-industry collaboration and to propagate the same to become a leader in the field of chemistry and allied interdisciplinary domains. The department offers core courses in Chemistry for Undergraduate B.E. students of engineering. In addition, it offers 4 Yr Integrated 1st Deg Program (M.Sc. Chemistry) and Ph.D. program. The thrust areas of research includes water & environment, nanomaterials and nanotechnology, organic synthesis, physical chemistry, computational chemistry, biophysical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, bio-inorganic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities, library resources (e-journals) and has established collaborations with various national and international laboratories.
