Research Interest
The research framework centers on sustainable waste management, resource recovery, and environmental biotechnology, with a strong emphasis on advancing anaerobic digestion and wastewater treatment technologies. The work integrates fundamental microbiological and biochemical understanding with applied process engineering to improve the efficiency, stability, and methane yield of biomethanation systems treating diverse organic waste streams. A key focus is addressing the limitations of conventional anaerobic digestion particularly its relatively low methane recovery (~60%) from complex substrates through the development of innovative reactor configurations, process-intensification approaches, and intelligent control strategies for enhanced performance.
Parallel efforts involve the design of commercially scalable reactors, real-time process monitoring tools, and food safety diagnostic kits, ensuring strong translational relevance and industry alignment. Additional research contributions extend to nano-ecotoxicology and environmental risk assessment, fostering a comprehensive perspective on sustainable environmental systems.
Overall, the research lies at the intersection of bioprocess engineering, microbial ecology, and the circular bioeconomy, with the overarching goal of transforming waste into renewable resources and supporting global sustainability initiatives.
