About the Faculty

Veeky Baths received his Ph.D. from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, in 2012, and subsequently earned an MBA from Goa Institute of Management. He is currently serving as a Professor and Head of the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory at BITS Pilani K. K. Birla Goa Campus. He has a joint appointment in both the Department of Biological Sciences, and Department of Computer Science and Information Systems. 

With over 20 years of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Baths has received several prestigious national and international research grants, including funding under the iBRAIN program. He has published extensively in reputed international journals and conferences.

He has previously served as an Honorary Board Member of the Association for Reading and Writing in Asia (ARWA), an organization dedicated to fostering collaboration among researchers and graduate students working on Asian languages and learning difficulties related to reading and writing. He is also a founding member of the Society for the Cognitive Science of Culture (SCSC), which focuses on understanding how cultural objects—such as literacy and religion—shape the human brain and mind at both micro- and macro-cultural levels.

His research interests span Game-based Cognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease; Explainable Graph Neural Networks for Brain Connectivity and Biomarker discovery in Dementia; Computational Psycholinguistics and Alzheimer’s disease detection from spontaneous speech using Machine Learning; Brain–Computer Interfaces; Consumer Neuroscience; Brand Perception; and Neural Signal Processing and Pattern Recognition.
