About the Faculty

Dr. Saroj Sundar Baral is a Professor in the Department Chemical Engineering group at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani- K K Birla Goa Campus. Dr. Baral earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela,  in 2008. His academic journey commenced with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang, in 2001.

Dr. Baral embarked on his teaching career at BITS in 2008, where he joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Prior to his tenure at BITS, he served as an Assistant Professor in the chemical engineering department of Maharashtra Academy of Engineering for a year. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the field during his five-year stint at the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR), Bhubaneswar.

Throughout his tenure at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus, Dr. Baral has demonstrated his commitment to education by teaching a diverse range of courses. His expertise encompasses subjects such as process control, mass transfer operation, advanced process control, advanced mass transfer, fluid mechanics, process plant safety, measurement technique-II, and process plant simulation. His dedication to the field of chemical engineering is reflected in his teaching methodologies and contributions to the academic community.
