Assistant Professor
Dr. Akshay Madan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus. He received his Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2024, and holds an M.E. in Communication Engineering and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus (2018 and 2016).
He previously worked as an AI Research Scientist at KVGAI Tech, where he led the development of vision-language models for automated grading of student answer sheets. He has prior industry experience with American Express India and KPMG Advisory Services. His research focuses on AI agents, machine learning, and wireless signal processing for healthcare and IoT applications. He is currently working on multi-agent AI frameworks that integrate generative AI with real-time sensing for activity recognition, decision support, and proactive monitoring in smart environments.
His work has been published in journals and conferences including IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, Ad Hoc Networks, and IEEE MASS. He received the University of Pittsburgh Provost’s Doctoral Completion Fellowship (2024) and contributed to a project funded by the Pitt Cyber Accelerator Grant (2020). He serves as a reviewer for journals such as IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Wireless Communications, Elsevier Computer Communications, and Wiley Software: Practice & Experience.
