Assistant Professor, Gr-I
Aabhaas completed his PhD in Dec 2018 under the guidance of Prof. H. R. Krishnamurthy and Prof. Vijay Shenoy at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, India. During his PhD he worked on elucidating a mechanism to account for some peculiar aspects of the hole doped copper oxide high-Tc superconductors. He then joined the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Bengaluru as a postdoctoral fellow. Here he worked with Prof. Subhro Bhattacharjee to model an interesting layered material composed of Iron and Tin ions. Based on his model he predicted that this material can exhibit a host of exotic properties like anomalous Hall response, topological superconductivity and Fractional Chern insulating behaviour. In Oct 2021, Aabhaas moved to the Bar-Ilan University in Israel to work as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Efrat Shimshoni, Prof. Emanuele Dalla Torre and Prof. Jonathan Ruhman. During this postdoctoral stint he focused on understanding some intriguing observations made on the transition metal dichalcogenide material 4Hb-TaS2. He also had the opportunity to carry out some simulations on the IBM quantum computers leading to a better understanding of the effect of mid-circuit measurements on these devices.
