The Department of Civil Engineering offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D programmes with emphasis on fundamental theory and practice in Civil Engineering keeping in view the current and continuously changing scenarios in this discipline. It is proposed to start post graduate programmes in Transportation and Water Resources in the coming years. The Department has established state-of-art laboratories which can provide opportunities for the students at all levels to get acquainted with the latest developments in various avenues of Civil Engineering. In addition to Teaching and Instruction, the faculty is also engaged in active research with an aim to generate innovative concepts and ideas or apply the existing technologies to new applications. The Department has a number of ongoing/completed/applied research projects from various agencies. It plans to undertake industrial consultancy work and also organizes Conferences / Workshop for professional interaction.
Prof. K Srinivasa Raju, Professor, Civil Engineering Department was chosen as Associate Editor, ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, Taylor & Francis, UK.
Prof. K Srinivasa Raju was chosen as outstanding Reviewer for Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), USA for the year 2014.
Prof. K Srinivasa Raju was awarded S.N.Gupta Memorial Award for Research Contribution to the field of Water Resources Engineering by Indian Society for Hydraulics, India.
Prof. K Srinivasa Raju was given best paper award for the paper entitled Optimal Integrated Water Resources Management for Khadakwasla Complex Reservoir (Session-III), i-Manager International Conference on Engineering and Technologies (IICET-2015), Trivandrum, India, April 11-12, 2015. Co-authors for the paper are D V Morankar and A. Vasan.
Prof. K Srinivasa Raju was awarded collaborating Sponsored Project “Multicriterion Analysis for Ranking of Various General Circulation Models to Study Water Resources of India", Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, India. Collaborating Institute: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Prof. K Srinivasa Raju was awarded Collaborating Sponsored Project “Integrated Urban Flood Management in India: Technology-Driven Solutions”, Information Technology Research Academy (ITRA), Ministry of Communications & Information Technology, Government of India. Collaborating Institutes: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, C-DAC, Thiruvanathapuram National Institute of Technology, Warangal.
Dr. Arkamitra Kar was awarded the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Outstanding Potential for Excellence in Research and Academics (OPERA) award in 2015.
Prof. Vasan and Dr. R R Murari Varma was awarded sponsored project titled "Self-Adaptive Differential Evolution Algorithm for Solving Water Distribution System Optimization” funded by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, India.
