Dr. Nirankush Dutta joined BITS Pilani as a faculty in the Department of Management in 2017. Prior to joining BITS Pilani, he has worked for six years, of which four years were in the IT industry in India and abroad, and two years were in the academia, where he taught Management courses to students of post-graduate level.

His primary research interest lies in Online Social Media Marketing and e-Commerce. His research papers have been published by International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management (ABDC indexed, Category “A”), International Journal of Web Based Community (ABDC indexed, Category “B”), Journal of Internet Commerce (ABDC indexed, Category “B”), International Journal of Technoentrepreneurship (ABDC indexed, Category “C”), South Asian Journal of Business and Management Cases (indexed by SCOPUS) and Indore Management Journal (Published by Indian Institute of Management Indore). Case studies authored by him have been published in Emerald Emerging Market Case Studies, Ivey Cases and International Journal of Case Studies in Management (Published by HEC Montreal) and are available through Harvard Business Publishing.

He has presented more than 20 research studies in international conferences, including American Marketing Association Educators’ Conference (Summer AMA) and Association of Management Annual Meeting. He is a member of Australia and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC), American Marketing Association (AMA), Association of Management (AOM) and Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS).

He is one of the editorial board members of Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research (published by Taylor & Francis and indexed in SCOPUS). He is a regular reviewer of Electronic Commerce Research (Published by Springer, indexed in Social Science Citation Index, Scopus etc.), Emerald Emerging Market Case Studies and International Journal of Case Studies in Management (Published by HEC Montreal) etc.

As a visiting faculty, Dr. Dutta has taught several courses to students of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi, Chaudhary Charan Singh National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), Jaipur, and Atal Vihari Vajpayee Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM), Gwalior.

He believes in interactive teaching with contemporary real world examples in a friendly atmosphere. He prefers to inspire students to learn more on their own by raising their level of inquisitiveness and to hand-hold them at the time of need.

Being a passionate teacher of third generation in his family, he values and enjoys the company of his students, besides his family and a very small circle of close friends. A firm believer of experiential learning, Dr. Dutta loves to explore various places, especially the mountains! He has travelled to more than 20 Indian states and around 25 countries in Asia, Europe, Australia and North America. When he is not teaching or doing research, he can be found humming old Bengali songs or reading articles of diversified interest on the internet.
