My specialization lies in the field of removing recalcitrant organic compounds from water and wastewater using biological and advanced oxidation processes. Recently, due to the severe water scarcity it has become mandatory to monitor new contaminants in water and wastewater. Hence, detection of PFAS, pharmaceuticals, and other personal care products there fate and transport in different aquatic systems is an area where I am really interested in. Furthermore, since wastewater comprises of a lot of organic matter, nutrients, and metals, I am also working on developing new ways to recover resources from wastewater in some form.
