Research Interest

Fused heterocycle based fluorophores

Our interest lies mainly in the synthesis of small molecule based fluorophores for selective sensing of diverse cations/anions and important biological molecules like cysteine/homocysteine/glutathione. The main idea is to develop sensors with very simple scaffold which can be assembled quickly for on-site testing.

Small molecule total synthesis

Some of the molecules synthesized by our group are aplidiopsamine A (along with other marinoquinolines) and  racemic microthecaline A.
