Faculty Development and Honours

  1. Jayashree Mahesh completed the prestigious year-long Leadership Development Programme Women’s Leadership in STEM (WLS), launched by BIRAC, Grand Challenges India, and WomenLift Health. This is a hybrid program empowering mid-career women across India to enhance leadership, influence, and networks while addressing barriers like biases and limited mentorship. The inaugural cohort included only 20 women scientists and academicians, including Prof. Jayashree Mahesh, who were selected after multiple rounds of screening. Her leadership project, W.E. – R.E.A.C.H., focused on uplifting underserved schoolgirls through mentorship and leadership skills. Her work was featured in a WomenLift Health case study, highlighting her leadership in education and social impact.

  1. Successfully completed the Oxford Women’s Leadership Development Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, with a score of 90.3% from January 24 to March 12, 2024. This experience provided valuable ideas and knowledge for developing similar programs for women in academia and other industries.
  2. Has successfully completed the requirements for MBTI® Step I™ and Step II™ certification of Myers Briggs Type Indicator (Personality Test). As a certified trainer, she is equipped to conduct certification programs and workshops both internally and externally.
  3. Has completed the Belbin Team Roles Accreditation Test with merit. As a certified Team Role specialist, she is capable of conducting team-building programs and workshops.
  4. Has participated in Team Based Learning and Active Learning workshop She is utilizing the knowledge gained from these sessions to enhance student learning and engagement in the MBA courses she teaches.

Teaching Achievements:

PILOT Program and PILOT LAB (2022 onwards)

Ideated, designed, and implemented the Program for Behavioral Skills Foundation - Personality Integration, Leadership Orientation, and Teamwork Program - (P.I.L.O.T). This in-house leadership and talent development program has been developed to bridge the academia-reality gap for students, thereby making them industry-ready. This program envisages laying down the foundations of the behavioral skills core that is highly essential in today’s professional and personal context.

Maker Bhavan Foundation (MBF) MoU for Delivering Courses on Cognitive Essential Skills (2021)

Led the efforts to establish an MoU with MBF, a Palo Alto-based trust partnering with Indian higher education institutions to provide advanced resources and support innovative teaching methods in undergraduate engineering curricula. She also facilitated online certification courses in essential skills at BITS Pilani’s Center for Essential Skills, preparing students for seamless transition to careers from 2021-2022.

Other Teaching Achievements

  • Case Studies, Role Play, In tray Exercises, Situational Judgement Test, Videos, Projects, Mock Interviews and other interactive activities were used in all the courses. 
  • Presentation of students were video recorded and objective feedback was given to them to improve their presentation skills
  • Psychometric tools were administered to know personality type and job suitability
  • Students were asked to take up real time issues and work on them for projects. Appropriate findings were incorporated to make business changes
  • Developed material specific to medical profession for the course HHSM ZC417 which is targeted towards medical professions doing their masters in Hospitals and Health Systems Management
  • Guided MBA students in preparation of competency based resume and career objective 
  • Been the Instructor In charge of multi section course MGTS F211 Principles of Management

Research Achievements:

  • Received the Best Paper Award - Suri Babu Kuchimanchi and Jayashree Mahesh (2024).  “Contribution of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Programs towards continued employability skill enhancement in working Professionals: A case study” in the “International Conference on Work Integrated Learning - 2024” held at BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus during 15-16 Apr 2024.

  • Received the Best Paper Award for Innovative Research for a paper titled ‘Educating Generation Z- An Ethnographic Insight for Managing and Organizing Higher Education Institutions in the Indian Context’. Paper presented at the Second Conference of Aston India Centre for Applied Research (AICAR), held at Aston University, Birmingham from August 31 – September 1, 2018. 
  • Presented a paper at the 76th Academy of Management Annual Meeting (AOM), held at Anaheim, California from August 5-9, 2016. The paper was titled "How Global is 'Indian' Management - A Study of Management Practices in the Indian I.T. Sector".
  • Best Paper Award received for a paper titled "Indian Management Practices: A Chimera or Reality", presented in the International Conference on Management in the New World Order, held at IIM Ranchi from August 13-14, 2013
  • Attended a Faculty Development Program on 'Case Method Pedagogy' conducted at Indian Institute of Management, Indore

Leadership Development, Outreach Programs and Workshops Organized

WE.-R.E.A.C.H. (Women in Education - Raising Engagement and Awareness in the Community through Hands-on Learning)- Outreach Program

Designed, led, and convened W.E.-R.E.A.C.H, an experiential workshop for the government school girls around Pilani in January-February 2025 in collaboration with Pilani AtmaNirbhar Centre (PARC), empowering 51 Udayan Shalini scholarship recipients through mentorship, career counseling, and life skills training (finance, technology, health). This service-learning initiative enhanced faculty leadership, delivered real-world experiential learning for students, and integrated service into the curriculum. Four 2-hour workshops on goal setting, financial literacy, safe technology use, and women’s health improved faculty leadership, boosted student engagement, and promoted community well-being, establishing service-learning as a core pedagogical approach.

WE-FEEL  (Women in Education – Fostering Empowerment through Effective Leadership) - Leadership Development Program    (January 2024)      

Designed and led the 3-day "WE – FEEL" Leadership Development Program at BITS Pilani, empowering women in academia, especially in STEM and Management. Held in January 2024, it focused on self-awareness, decision-making, emotional intelligence, and strategic leadership through outbound sessions, real-world problem-solving, and expert-led masterclasses. The inaugural cohort of 10 women faculty fostered inclusive leadership and growth

IKIGAI Workshop

Conducted a workshop titled "Discovering Your Ikigai: Reflections and Goals for a Meaningful Journey" for school teachers from various Pilani schools, at the Pilani Atmanirbhar Resource Center (PARC) on March 15, 2024.

AHEAD Outreach Event 

Coordinated on February 4, 2024, an outreach program titled "AHEAD (Aim High Everyday & Achieve Your Dreams)" took place in collaboration with the Pilani Atmanirbhar Resource Center (PARC) for government school girls. Organized by MASSOC and the Department of Management at BITS Pilani, the initiative highlighted self-reflection, goal-setting, and team-building activities to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity. Participants enjoyed fun activities, donated merchandise, and created an inspiring environment for deserving students to empower them to achieve their dreams.

SALE (Self-Awareness and Leading with Emotional Intelligence)  (2023) - Leadership Development Workshop 

As a part of the 4th International Conference on Evidence-Based Management (ICEBM 2023) designed and conducted a Pre-Conference workshop titled  SALE  for Young Academicians and research scholars on 23/02/23.

Webinar - BITSAA Propel (2021)

In charge of the Webinar Series of BITSAA Propel, an initiative by Alumni to provide additional opportunities by bringing the latest industry and research trends to all the students where Experts from academia and industry will curate and deliver rigorous programs in alignment with the BITS Academic Standards. –

Conferences and Workshops of Teaching Learning Centre (2018-2020)

  • On behalf of the Teaching Learning Centre, convened a 2.5-day conference on behalf of the Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) in collaboration with the three campuses of TLC at BITS Pilani, KK Birla Goa Campus between 12 -15 February 2020. The conference's theme was 'International Conference on Best Teaching Practices for Engaged Student Learning'.
  • On behalf of Teaching Learning Centre, BITS Pilani – Pilani Campus convened the workshop called “Intensive Teaching Workshop(ITW)” for orienting new faculty on 25-26 July, 2019.

  • Convened a HR Conclave titled ‘Workplace in the Era of Industry 4.0 – Skill Upgrading and Development’ on March 1, 2019 at BITS Pilani – Pilani Campus in collaboration with WILP.
  • Convened a HR Conclave titled 'Bridging the Talent Gap - Issues and Challenges' on 20th January, 2017 in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi in collaboration with WILP.

  • As core member of Teaching Learning Centre and in charge of arranging workshops, coordinated and participated in a workshop on ‘Team Based Learning’ on March 9, 2019. Dr. Preman Rajalingam of LKC School of Medicine, Singapore engaged a one day hands on session for faculty participants from BITS Pilani - Pilani , Hyderabad and Goa Campuses.
