Prof. Jitendra Panwar completed his Doctoral degree in the area of Mycorrhizal Biotechnology in from Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur, India in the year 2000. He began his Post-Doctoral studies at the Central Arid Zone Research Institute (ICAR), Jodhpur, where he worked on a project related to Soil fertility and Plant Physiology (June 2000 to January 2003). Recognizing his exceptional research potential, Prof. Panwar was awarded the prestigious DST Young Scientist Project by the Government of India, which facilitated his post-doctoral research from February 2003 to September 2005.
Prof. Panwar joined the Department of Biological Sciences, Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani campus, Rajasthan as Lecturer in October 2005, became an Assistant Professor in January 2006, Associate Professor in February 2013, and Professor in July 2018. He served as Head of the Department from September 2012 to August 2014, and as Associate Dean, Academic - Graduate Studies and Research Division (AGSRD), BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus from August 2018 to August 2022. He has a total of 28 years of teaching and research experience as of the year 2026.
Prof. Panwar is a recipient of the prestigious Visiting Professor Fellowship award by Indian National Science Academy (INSA) for the year 2011 as well as 2016. He has successfully implemented several research projects in the field of Microbial- and Nano-biotechnology, funded by DST, ICAR-NAIP, Aditya Birla Group (ABG), UGC, DST-Nano Mission, Aditya Birla Science & Technology Company Pvt. Ltd. (ABSTCPL), DST-ASACODER and DBT. He has 155 publications, including research articles in journals (79), book chapters (19), conference proceedings (57) of International repute, and one Indian Patent to his credit. Prof. Panwar serves as an Associate Editor and Reviewer for some of the highly reputed journals. His distinguished career has significantly advanced science through pioneering innovations in microbial biotechnology and sustainable environmental solutions.
