Industry Projects

Project 1 - CONDITION ASSESSMENT OF RAW MILL FOUNDATION - FIELD AND LABORATORY INVESTIGATION
Status - Completed.
About the project - The project assess the level of damage of the foundation of a vertical grinding mill at STAR CEMENT CO. L.L.C. Clinkerisation Unit- Ras Al Khaima. The multi- phased approach includes a comprehensive field and laboratory investigation. Includes:
1. Detailed visual inspections to point out a qualitative and preliminary estimate of damage state as well as to identify key locations for detailed investigations.
2. Field investigation includes:
• Non-destructive testing with Acoustic emission, Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), Half-cell potential (HCP), Rebound hammer, Ground penetrating radar (GPR) and break-out window test.
• Sample collections for laboratory experiments
• Topographic survey
3. Laboratory investigation includes compression tests, depth of carbonation test and chloride contamination test as well as petrographic analysis.

Project 2 – VISUAL INSPECTION OF AN UNDER PASS TUNNEL FOR AL NAKHLA CRUSHER, FUJIRA
Status - Completed
About the project – To perform a visual inspection of the external appearance of the structure as well as surface, interior and surrounding environment of the structure

Project 3 – NDT of COAL MILL FOUNDATION
Status - Completed
About the project - The project is to conduct a series of non-destructive and laboratory tests to evaluated the level of damage of the foundation of a Coal Mill at STAR CEMENT CO. L.L.C. Ras Al Khaima. Scope of the work includes:
1. Field investigations with Acoustic emission, Ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV), Half-cell potential (HCP), Rebound hammer, Ground penetrating radar (GPR) and break-out window test.
2. Laboratory investigations like compression tests, depth of carbonation test and chloride contamination test as well as petrographic analysis.
