Dr. Chittaranjan Hota is a Senior Professor of Computer Science at BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science), Hyderabad. Education: Dr. Chittaranjan Hota completed his Ph.D. from BITS, Pilani. His doctoral research focused on Quality of Service (QoS) assurances in IP-Virtual Private Networks. Part of this research was carried out at the Network Research Laboratory at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, under the Indo-Australian joint research program. Prior to his Ph.D., he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering (B.E.) from Amravati (MS) and a Master's degree in Computer Science and Engineering (M.E.) from NITTTR (Chandigarh).

Research Interests: His research interests encompass various areas, including Big-data analytics, Cognitive Internet of Things (IoT), Distributed Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity. He has a prolific publication record with over 150 publications in various journals and conferences. Additionally, he has supervised more than 15 Ph.D. students.

Current Research: Dr. Hota is currently involved in research related to secure Bio-Cyber-Physical Systems (Bio-CPS) devices under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems, with funding support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

Funded Projects: He has executed numerous funded research projects as Principal Investigator with support from organizations such as MeitY (GoI), DeitY(GoI), UGC (GoI), NWO (Netherlands), Intel India, Progress Software, and TCS. These projects have covered various areas like network threat monitoring, code tamper-proofing for IoT devices, and secure Peer-to-Peer overlays using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.

Academic Administration: Dr. Hota has extensive experience in academic administration within BITS, Pilani. He has held various roles, including Associate Dean of Admissions, Professor In-Charge of BITSAT (university wide), Faculty In-Charge (Information Processing Center), Faculty In-Charge (Computer Assisted Housekeeping Unit) and founding Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BITS, Hyderabad. He has also played a crucial role in designing and commissioning the campus network and other IT services at BITS, Hyderabad. He also headed a team of faculty members and engineers in formulating the ERP roadmap for BITS, Pilani.

Visiting Researcher and Professor: Over the past two decades, he has been a visiting researcher and visiting professor at several prestigious universities worldwide, including the University of New South Wales (Sydney), University of Cagliari (Italy), Aalto University (Finland), University of Tartu (Estonia), City University (London), and Vrije University (Amsterdam).
