The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, BITS Pilani, Pilani campus admits Ph.D. Scholars under the following categories for II Semester 2023-24.

Institute Fellowship: There are a limited number of institute fellowships available. Candidates admitted under this category will be provided INR 34000 or INR 37000 as per the qualification at the time of admission. Candidates in the following thrust areas will be considered for Institute Fellowship:

Sociology; Gender studies; English Language Teaching; Intersectionality between gender, language and education; Psychology; OB/HRM; Governance and Society (Technology / Digital Interventions); Education, Human Resources and Technology; Normative Ethics; Ethical Issues in Business and Professions; Western Philosophy; Hermeneutic Philosophy; International Relations; China in South Asia

External Fellowship: Candidates with external fellowships such as UGC-JRF, UGC- OBCNF, UGC-NFSC, UGC-NFST, etc. are encouraged to apply for Ph.D. admission in the Department. Admission under this category is open in all areas of research expertise available in the Department. Shortlisting criteria for the Ph.D. candidates (II Sem 23-24)

The candidate should have at least an MA or an equivalent degree.
The candidate should have scored at least 55% in the postgraduate degree.
The department should have an expert in the area to supervise the candidate.
The candidate should have opted for Pilani campus as the first or second preference.
