Elakkiya R graduated in Computer Science & Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in 2010 and received Master of Engineering in Software Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in 2012. She secured University First Rank and awarded Gold Medal for her graduation studies. She received her PhD from Anna University, Chennai in 2018 and her doctoral research was on Sign Language Recognition, when she's not coding or in her research work, she's most probably cubing.  She was an Assistant Professor in School of Computing, SASTRA University, Thanjavur, India from December 2018 to December 2022. She continued the extension of her research work with the support from DST-Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), India as a young scientist for the year 2019 under Start-up Research Grant. She received Young Achiever Award 2019 from INSc, Bangalore and she won the iDEX - DISC 4 challenge, 2021 and received the grant award from DIO, DRDO. She received Indo-Russian Joint Grant in collaboration with Novosibirsk State Technical University, Russia. She had received many extra-mural funded projects from various government and non-government agencies and she also served as machine learning and data analytics consultant and delivered many products to different industry verticals. During 2020 pandemic, she developed an Artificial Intelligence based COVID Screening tool for preliminary screening and she deployed the tool as open source in three Government Hospitals at Tamilnadu, India with the support from SASTRA Management.

 

Elakkiya R has been contributing papers and chapters for many high-quality technology Journals and books that are being edited by internationally acclaimed professors and professionals. She own five patents and published four books and more than 60 research articles in reputable journal venues including IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer. She is on the reviewer board of several international journals and has been a member of the program committee for several international conferences and workshops. Currently, she is a Member of Association of Computing Machinery and Life time member of International Association of Engineers. Her research specifically focused on addressing the trending issues and huge need for AI & ML, by filling a gap within a multidisciplinary field to include computer science, mathematics, engineering, and alike application domains.
