Assistant Professor, Department of General Sciences (Physics)
Hi, I’m Krishnakanta Bhattacharya—please feel free to call me Krish. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of General Science (Physics) at BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus. My research focuses on various aspects of gravitation and cosmology, with particular interest in approaches that interpret gravity as an emergent phenomenon—such as black hole thermodynamics and fluid-gravity correspondence. My work spans general relativity and its extensions, including scalar-tensor theories, f(R) gravity, and Lanczos–Lovelock gravity. I earned my Ph.D. from IIT Guwahati under the mentorship of Prof. Bibhas Ranjan Majhi, a distinguished expert in this field, and I had the privilege of briefly working with the legendary Prof. T. Padmanabhan, a towering figure in theoretical physics in India. A brief overview of my academic journey is presented below.
