Over the past few years, the pharmaceutical industry has evolved into a more knowledge-based and innovation-driven sector. The drug discovery program has undergone a series of transformations, progressing from random screening to rational drug design. This change provided better chances of getting successful hits. However, there remains an unmet need for the development of new therapies, particularly for chronic diseases, due to the development of resistance and the failure of current therapies. This results in the search for newer methods, including in silico design and high-throughput screening. Due to the cost and time involved in the R&D, efforts have also been directed from drug discovery to drug product development. Attempts are being made to enhance the efficacy of existing therapeutic molecules by repackaging them into novel delivery systems. However, academic research in this arena still requires a strong link with industry and the identification of challenges in their commercial development.
To achieve the desired pharmaceutical product, a combination of various fields, including synthetic and natural product chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis, molecular biology, biotechnology, pharmacology, and novel drug delivery, is required. This conference aims to bring together diverse specialists to identify the unmet needs of this multidisciplinary field and provide a vision for its future path.
Experts from the international and national academic community, as well as industry, will be invited to bridge the gap between industry and academia. Knowledge seekers will get an opportunity to understand the importance of the latest pharmaceutical and biomedical research.
