S. M. Zafaruddin (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from IIT Delhi, New Delhi, India, in 2013. From 2012 to 2015, he was with Ikanos Communications (now Qualcomm), Bengaluru, India, working directly with the CTO Office, Red Bank, NJ, USA, where he was involved in research and development for xDSL systems. From 2015 to 2018, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher with the Faculty of Engineering, BarIlan University, Ramat Gan, Israel, where he was involved in signal processing for wireline and wireless communications. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology and Science at Pilani, Pilani, India. His current research interests include Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Wireless and Wireline Communications, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface, THz Wireless Technology, Optical Wireless Communications, Distributed Signal Processing, and Resource Allocation Algorithms. He received the Planning and Budgeting Commission Fellowship for Outstanding Post-Doctoral Researchers from China and India by the Council for Higher Education, Israel (2016–2018). He is also an Associate Editor of the IEEE ACCESS.
