About: 
 
Anindya is currently an Associate Professor (Off-campus) in the CSIS dept of BITS, Pilani. He teaches courses in Distributed Computing, Big Data Systems etc. Prior to joining BITS Pilani, he spent almost 20 years in IBM Research, IBM Software Lab and start-ups in key technical roles.
 
Most recently, he has been a Co-Founder and CTO at a data analytics start-up. At IBM Research, he led the Distributed Systems Management team that created analytical systems to solve IT service management problems, e.g. automated root cause analysis, Cloud workload placement, software-driven server energy optimization etc. At IBM Software Lab, he led cross-geo engineering teams as a Chief Architect to incubate and create new Cloud management product offerings, e.g. IBM Operations Analytics, SmartCloud Monitoring capacity planner, Cognitive Assistant for IT etc. Anindya was also an IBM Master Inventor for mentoring broader teams on Intellectual Property development. 
 
At Stony Brook, he worked on real-time distributed systems for creating, storing and delivering video/voice workload. He also experimented with other research areas in the Systems lab, including Java Security, Network Performance, Network Emulation Testbeds etc. During PhD, he also spent some time at Rether Networks, a start-up in Berkeley, where he created a real-time network traffic management appliance with scheduling and classification algorithms built into the Linux kernel.
 
Anindya has 27+ issued patents, 25+ refereed and widely-cited (~3000) international conference and journal publications. His research on applying analytics in IT systems management has won an IEEE/IFIP best paper award and an ACM Middleware 10 years Test-of-Time Award.
