About Me

I received my M.Sc. from the School of Physics at D. A. University, Indore in 1997, and my Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 2003, under the supervision of Prof. K. Shahi. After that, I continued at the Department of Physics, IIT Kanpur, as a CSIR project scientist for almost a year and worked with Prof. Satish Chandra Agarwal. In June 2004, I joined the Physics department at BITS-Pilani as a Lecturer. From January 2006, I worked as an Assistant Professor, then as an Associate Professor since February 2013. Currently, I have been working as a Professor of Physics since July 2018.

My area of research focuses on experimental solid state ionics, which involves the study of fast ionic solids and their potential applications in energy devices. My research group at Pilani is particularly interested in exploring the ionic and electronic properties of glasses, polymers, glass-ceramic composites, and polymer-ceramic hybrids, with the goal of developing solid state ionic devices such as batteries and supercapacitors. The Materials Physics Laboratory is equipped for materials development, battery/supercapacitor fabrication, and their characterization. To date, I have supervised six  PhD students and am currently guiding five more.

I was the convener of 12th National Conference on Solid State Ionics organized at BITS, Pilani (December 21-23, 2017).
