About "MIND Lab"
Major Ion channel dysfunction in Neurological Disorders (MIND) Lab at BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus, led by Dr. Pragya Komal, investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying brain function, aging, and neurological disorders. Our research focuses on synaptic homeostasis, neuroimmune signaling, ligand-gated ion channels, particularly nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, and the neuroprotective role of nutraceuticals in health and disease. Using in vivo and in vitro models, we explore how neuronal function, synaptic communication, and neurotrophic signaling are affected under conditions such as Huntington's disease and Schizophrenia. By integrating whole-cell electrophysiology, behavioral studies, molecular biology, proteomics, and biochemical approaches, we aim to uncover novel mechanisms governing neuronal health and develop strategies to combat neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.
About the Workshop
Join our comprehensive, hands-on Patch-Clamp Electrophysiology Training Program and gain practical expertise in recording ionic currents and investigating the electrical properties of cells. This immersive course combines essential theoretical concepts with live demonstrations, guided data analysis, and real-world applications to provide a well-rounded learning experience. Designed for students, researchers, and early-career scientists, the program equips participants with the technical knowledge and analytical skills required to confidently perform and interpret electrophysiological experiments.
